October 2009

Considering my Camera is still not in service i've been taking advantage of my mac's iPhotobooth. I've used this camera to suit my needs to help photo document ideas that I've worn. I took my vintage pieces and put them together with staples that I've already owned. I hope you enjoy. And as always, thanks for reading.

Impromptu

This past weekend I made an impromptu trip to NY to sell some items that were taking up my closet and were purposely bought to dry clean, fix, and sell. I traveled Friday, October 16th expecting to get to New York by 10:15 PM. Well, let's just say the wait was severely unexpected. I got to the Buffalo bus station at 1:40 pm with just enough time in case Megabus was early. I sat there past 2:15pm (the original scheduled time) wondering if for some reason they were late like they usually are. Unbenounced to me, Megabus came without a warning arrival. It was around 3:05PM did I go outside to see if the Toronto Megabus would be our NEW YORK routed bus. Well, it wasn't our bus. Myself including six other people missed the 2:15PM bus to New York City due to a shitty bus driver being too lazy to get out of the bus to walk 10 feet into a bus station and yell, "NEW YORK 2:15." I had to pay for another bus ticket through Greyhound just to get to NY before midnight. My other option was to wait for the next Megabus departure at 9:45PM and raise hell to the bus driver. Only with this option I would've gotten into NY at 5:30am which means I would've been too exhausted to do anything the following morning. Finally, I plead to the Greyhound ticket keeper to give me a student discount. I paid $60 to get on their bus at 4:15. We arrived at Port Authority by 12:15AM. After this catastrophe I took a cab to my sister's apt. in Union Sq. exhausted and ready for a sound sleep.

Saturday Afternoon:

I headed to the Buffalo Exchange in the East Village (332 E. 11th Street New York, NY 10003 (212) 260-9340). I took my heavy suitcase filled with vintage and non-vintage clothing there to sell. They bought four items out of the 20 pieces (not including jewelery). After lugging this suitcase to NY, up and down subway steps, and around the city and only buying four pieces. In more conservative words, I was infuriated. I do not bring things to sell unless I know for sure that they would be bought. I've sold to various buy/sell trade stores prior to this trip. I tried not to have my anger over come my desire to push through. I hopped on the L at 1st & 14th and went into my love, Brooklyn, NY. I marched straight down Bedford ave. to Beacon's Closet on North 11th and Berry st. in Williamsburg, BK. I dropped off my suitcase and was told to wait an Hour and a half. I walked around the store and found multiple items that I wanted immediately however, priced not so sweet. After waiting two hours for them to find about 5 pieces they wanted only to sell for dirt cheap.
I went to my third and final place to sell. The Buffalo Exchange on North 9th and Driggs. I met a beautiful gal named a very unique name that of course my poor short term memory cannot remember. She bought and priced most of the things that were left in my 12+ lbs suitcase including most of the jewelery. She was, what most religious fanatics would say, "my savior". Leaving the Buffalo Exchange with a lighter load, a smile, and two friends, I walked back to the L train. Before leaving, I stopped and snagged the biggest slice of pesto pizza. It was DELICIOUS! (Potomac)

I unfortunately do not have much to report visually due to the fact my camera still out of commission. I'll get on that this week. I did pick up some cheap finds at good ol' H&M on 5th. Here are my ideas with what I found:

All in All, it was a great trip. I met up with some great people I haven't seen in a long time. I ate some really great Indian food, and shared some laughs. Thanks NY for always showing me a good time. See you in January.

R.I.P. Namenecklace

On this day, Tuesday, October 20, 2009 my name necklace broke in half. Thank you for being my staple neck ware for the last year or so. I feel naked without you. I'm sad to see you not in all of my ensembles. One day, I'll have to replace you or have you fixed. One day...

Thank You Namenecklace.com for making such a great but not so durable piece of sterling.
